The darker parts are in control vs light. The brighte are suffering a little from the bright time of the day I assume.

Would have wanted also a more blurred background.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel that the beak is still too close to the edge. Placing the bird even further to the right would look nice, in my opinion.
Otherwise it's good.

Awesome species John. Very rare in Rhode Island. I've only seen this species while visiting Florida. Then it was called "Louisiana Heron"

Nice and sharp with vivid colors. The high exposure in areas seems very natural to me and isn't a problem in my opinion. I do agree however that a less detailed background would be desirable.
